Blue Ocean Music Hall at The Pavilion Wedding Videographer :: Salisbury Beach, MA :: Jodi and Mario (Part I - Wedding Vows)

We simply love it when couples write their own vows.  They're heartfelt, personal, and full of love.  They tell a story about the couple -- a story that goes back to how they first met, how they got engaged, and how they got to their wedding day.  And because we try to tell a memorable story about each and every wedding couple through our wedding films.... well this just makes our jobs that much easier and more fun!

But enough about us.  Let's turn our attention to Jodi, Mario, and their chic wedding at the Blue Ocean Music Hall at The Pavilion in Salisbury Beach, MA.  When I first met with this adorable couple a few months before their wedding, I knew they'd be a fun couple.  Jodi and Mario have such a strong connection, it shows through their deep understanding of what each other is thinking at any given moment.  So naturally, on the morning of their wedding on September 21, 2013, it was obvious they couldn't wait to hear the vows they had written for each other.

Neeta and I are still working through all the footage from their special day, but we just couldn't help and share this clip from their wedding vow exchanges.  Their words tell so much about who they are and how much they love each other (and we love the little jokes that they intersperse throughout)!  We love the ear-to-ear smiles on their faces and how they are moved to tears when reading their vows to each other.  There's more to come, but we hope you enjoy this short clip as much as we do!

Congrats to Jodi and Mario!

Black Swan Country Club Wedding Videographer :: Georgetown, MA :: Maria and Dionisios (Part I - Wedding Party Introductions and First Dance)

What makes Maria and Dionisios' wedding on August 24, 2013 so awesome?  Could it be all the fun-loving family and friends who helped the couple celebrate late into the night?  Or perhaps it's all the hard work and planning that the couple put into designing their special day.  Maybe it's the celebrity guest performer who made a dramatic entrance during the reception (more on that later)!  So which one is it?  You got it, all of the above.  And we think that seeing just how happy Maria and Dionisios are to be getting married and having their friends and family there to support them played a large role, too!

We’re still working on the edit for their feature film, but we thought it would be nice to share a brief glimpse into their wedding reception at Black Swan Country Club (Georgetown, MA).  This clip is taken from their wedding party introductions and first dance.  We love how all the guests are cheering and smiling at Maria and Dionisios as they get introduced for the first time as husband and wife.  And we love how the happy couple basks in the warmth of the guests’ company during their first dance.  It truly is touching to see them gave at each other with ear-to-ear smiles.

More to come soon!

Spring Valley Country Club Wedding Videographer :: Sharon, MA :: Karen and Adam (Part II - Wedding Recap Film)

Things we love about Karen and Adam’s wedding.  (1) Awesome venue… Spring Valley Country Club is just beautiful! (2) Great DJ…. Greg Gates kept the dance floor moving the entire night.  (3) Oh yeah, did I mention Karen and Adam, one of the happiest couples we’ve met in quite a while?  When I met with Karen and Adam to discuss their wedding details several months before the wedding, their smiles and laughter said it all; it would be a fun wedding!  When asked if there would be a theme, Karen quickly told me “simple, but pretty”!  Perhaps that's what they were going for, but I'd call their wedding more along the lines of "stunning and elegant"!  Take a look at their wedding recap film below, and you'll get a sneak peak of their amazing day!

Neeta and I started our day with getting some preparation shots of Karen and Adam.  They each had their own dressing rooms at Spring Valley Country Club so we bounced back and forth to get shots at different stages of the prep.  One of our favorite shots from prep is Karen admiring her wedding dress in a full-length mirror.  And let’s not forget about Adam’s father Neal (who was the best man) adjusting Adam’s tie and then giving him a playful slap on the face!  Both shots are priceless!

Then we prepared for the “first look”, where the couple gets to “see” each other for the first time.  This is done ahead of the ceremony, and gives the couple a chance to spend a few minutes together to bask in the moment.  We love the “first look” as it lends itself easily to taking formal portraits with the wedding party before the ceremony.  This means they are free to enjoy cocktail hour and spend time with family and friends.  During their “first look”, Neeta and I were positioned on opposite ends of a golf course to get a variety of shots.  We love the look of excitement on Karen’s face as I follow her walking toward Adam on Steadicam.  You can almost feel the anticipation on Adam’s face as Karen taps him on his shoulder, signaling him to turn around!  Special thanks to Douglas Levy for sharing a few of his breathtaking portraits to be used in our wedding film.  Seriously, check out his work... you'll be amazed, too!

So without further delay, here's the world premier of Karen and Adam's wedding recap film.  You can't help but smile yourself when you see just how happy they are to be getting married!  Mazel tov to Karen and Adam (and Bruce, their adorable puppy) on their beautiful wedding!

The State Room Wedding Videographer :: Boston, MA :: Tatiana and Michael (Part II - Wedding Recap Film)

There are so many things we love about Tatiana and Michael's wedding.  The stunning panoramic views of the Boston skyline from the top of the State Room Boston, the romantic "first look" session outside the Langham Hotel Boston, and of course, let's not forget about the amazing couple.  You can almost feel the energy and excitement as you watch Tatiana and Michael perform their first dance and bask in the moment of being married.

We love it when the wedding invitation reads "black tie optional".... we know we're in for some stunning shots of the wedding party and guests all decked out and ready to celebrate.  And their wedding was certainly a night to remember.  Performances by a sultry jazz trio during cocktail hour, crystal accents on the backs of chairs, and the incomparable 8-piece Stardust Band to keep the dance floor rocking out.

Thanks to Bior of the State Room Boston for coordinating all the activities and keeping us informed of when key moments (such as the cake cutting and Tatiana's heartfelt dedication of her bouquet to her mother) were about to take place.  Bior was instrumental in keeping me and Neeta up-to-speed on what we should expect through the night.

Special thanks to Andrea Servidone of Servidone Studios Photography for sharing some of her breathtaking photos with us.  She's a great photographer and we loved working with her.  We bonded with Andrea when we were setting up to capture Tatiana during her hair and make-up session.... what did we bond over, you might ask?  The fact that we both shoot with Canon 5D cameras for a dramatic cinematic look!

Now, without further delay, we share with you Tatiana and Michael's wedding recap film.  Neeta and I had a wonderful time working with this fun-loving couple, and we wish them a beautiful life together!  Congratulations!

Spring Valley Country Club Wedding Videographer :: Sharon, MA :: Karen and Adam (Part I - Ring Exchange)

There’s something quite endearing about the smiles on the faces of Karen and Adam.  You can’t help but smile yourself when you see just how happy this couple truly is on their wedding day.

I met Karen and Adam back in February 2013.  At our first meeting, I could tell they were going to be a fun couple (and yes, I was right)!  They spoke with so much passion about their wedding day plans, their venue, and all the little details that would go into their wedding day.  I knew it was going to be a busy day, but I had no doubt it would be a spectacular day thanks to all their hard work.

Fast-forward to July 12, 2013… their big day.  Neeta and I arrived at Spring Valley Country Club ahead of our scheduled arrival time (thank goodness for smooth sailing on I-95!) so we stopped to get some footage of the expansive golf greens prior to making our way inside the country club.  What an amazing venue!  From the soaring wood beams of the cathedral-like ceiling to the floor-to-ceiling windows that line the perimeter of the building, there are just so many beautiful details that went into designing this venue.

We’re HUGE fans of shooting in as much natural light as possible, and their wedding ceremony was about as perfect as we can get in terms of natural lighting.  I love the way the sunlight gently illuminates Karen and Adam’s faces as they recite their wedding vows in Hebrew and in English.  Special thanks to Rabbi David Kudan for the beautiful ceremony.  And if you’re looking for a great photographer, you should definitely check out Douglas Levy Photography.  Neeta and I were thrilled that both Rabbi Kudan and Douglas were so easy to work with and highly professional.  It certainly made our day that much more fun!  Seriously, check out Douglas’ work…. In a word… impressive!

This short clip is a "teaser" of the full wedding recap film that will be coming soon.  Until then, enjoy a brief glimpse into their wedding ceremony.  Congratulations to Karen and Adam on their beautiful wedding!

The State Room: A Longwood Venue Wedding Videographer :: Boston, MA :: Tatiana and Michael (Part I - Ring Exchange)

On June 15, 2013, we had the pleasure of working with Tatiana and Michael on their amazing wedding day.  During our previous meetings, Tatiana and Michael had mentioned that their wedding would be a formal affair with a strong emphasis on “Boston”.  And what says “Boston” more than having your wedding overlook Boston Harbor and the city from the top floor of the chic State Room!

We captured countless hours of great footage, but we thought we’d start off with Tatiana and Michael’s ring exchange.  Neeta and I positioned ourselves at the front of the ceremony so we could get some really great shots of the happy couple with audience members in the background.  But we made sure to keep ourselves discreet to give all the attention to Tatiana and Michael.  There’s something quite special about this couple and you can’t help but smile yourself when you see how happy they look to be reciting their vows and exchanging rings.  Congratulations to Tatiana and Michael!

More to come soon.  Enjoy this clip!

As wedding film professionals in the Boston area who strive to stay current in filmmaking trends, we are active members of the New England Professional Videographers Assocation (NPVA).  This group of filmmakers meets monthly to discuss filmmaking styles, learn about new camera/audio gear, discover new shooting techniques, and network with other professionals in the industry.

Every year, NPVA holds its own competition for the best films (created by NPVA members) in various categories.  This year, one of our wedding recap films was selected for the "silver" level VISTA Award, NPVA's recognition for filmmaking excellence!  The judging committee was comprised of senior members of NPVA and judging criteria were based on both technical and aesthetic qualities of the film.

Here is a picture of our award!

And here is the wedding recap film that earned us our award!  This is from Shannon and Michael's wedding (August 2012) at the Biltmore Hotel in Providence, RI.  We had a great time at their wedding, and we're thrilled to have been selected for this prestigious filmmaking award!

The Hampshire House Wedding Videographer :: Boston, MA :: Jennifer and Greg (Part III - Wedding Recap)

And now, the moment you've all been waiting for.... the wedding recap featuring Jennifer and Greg!  It's been wonderful working with such a fun-loving and happy couple, and I'm going to miss seeing their wedding footage in the editing suite on a daily basis.  If you've missed the other posts (and videos) from their wedding, be sure to check them out below.

You can see their first dance and parent dances at the Hampshire House (Boston, MA) here:

And click below to see their wedding vows at St. Mary of the Assumption Parish (Brookline, MA):
http://www.truefocusfilms.blogspot.com/2013/01/st-mary-of-assumption-wedding.html

One of the hardest parts about creating a wedding recap is picking the right moments from the wedding day and then arranging the footage, audio, and music to tell a story about the couple.  There are countless hours of raw footage that we captured, and you'll have to take my word for it... Jennifer and Greg look stunning in pretty much all the footage we captured!  That made my editing job even harder (but that's a good thing)!  Their happy smiles are genuine, full of love... and you can't help but smile yourself when watching this recap!

I can't thank Megan Dupuis from Perspectives Photography enough for her amazing work.  If you're looking for an extremely talented wedding photographer who is easy to work with, Megan should definitely be on your short list.  She knows how to capture natural emotion and makes couples feel comfortable in front of the lens.  Kudos!

So congratulations to Jennifer and Greg.  We wish you a bright and happy future together.  And now, their wedding recap!

St. Mary of the Assumption Wedding Videographer :: Brookline, MA :: Jennifer and Greg (Part II - Wedding Vows and Rings)

When the pieces of the wedding day just seem to “come together” you know that all your hard work and planning have finally paid off.  That seems to be the case with Jennifer and Greg who got married on September 22, 2012 at the amazing St. Mary of the Assumption Parish (Brookline, MA).  If you’ve been reading along, you’ll remember Jennifer and Greg’s elegant dances at the Hampshire House (Boston, MA),  and if you want to see that clip again, click here.  But now let’s turn our attention to one of the most sacred moments of the wedding day... the wedding vows and exchange of rings.

One thing I love about their wedding ceremony is how the light from the church’s beautiful, cathedral ceilings mixes so well with the natural sunlight pouring through the majestic stained glass windows.  This wonderful glow throws just the perfect amount of highlight on the happy couple, and I’m thrilled with how the emotion of their special moment is captured through our lenses.  You can almost feel how happy Jennifer and Greg are to be proclaiming their love and devotion to each other.

For this part of their ceremony, Bill and I were positioned in different parts of the church.  Bill was in the back of the church capturing the straight-on shot, and I was positioned in the front of the church facing Jennifer.  A third camera was positioned at the front of the church looking toward Greg.  With the combination of these three shots, we were able to capture their wedding vows and ring exchange with hardly any movement, giving all the focus and attention to where it should be... to the happy bride and groom!

And just in case you're wondering why the dialogue sounds so great, no it's not because the priest was holding a microphone (although that microphone was being used to amplify dialogue on a PA system for all the guests in the church).  To capture the best quality audio of vows, ring exchanges, and other dialogue for the video, we provided the priest and Greg each a wireless lapel microphone.  These microphones are hardly noticeable (Greg's microphone was concealed behind his boutonniere) but provide amazingly clear dialogue, perfect for capturing vows even when being whispered by the bride and groom!

So let’s get to the clip, shall we?  And coming soon, Jennifer and Greg’s wedding recap!  Enjoy!

Moseley's on the Charles Wedding Videographer :: Dedham, MA :: Courtney and Scott (Part III - Wedding Recap)

And now, for the moment you’ve all been waiting for.... Courtney and Scott’s wedding recap!

There are so many great moments from Courtney and Scott’s amazing wedding.   From their grand full-mass wedding ceremony to their toe-tapping Thriller performance at the reception, we have tons of footage from their day of celebration.  For those of you who are lucky enough to see the full version of their wedding film, you’re in for a treat!  But don’t worry if you can’t see the full version, you can still get a glimpse into their amazing day through this five minute recap film that tells the story about Courtney and Scott’s special day.

When I first met with Courtney and Scott about a year before their wedding, they had all sorts of ideas of what they wanted for their wedding.  I had a feeling that their beagle Brandy (who is adorable!) would somehow be incorporated into their wedding.  And sure enough, there she was at the portrait session, all decorated with a fancy bow.  And let's not forget about the decadent cupcake display stacked layer upon layer with chocolate and vanilla cupcakes and decorated with a heart-shaped candy "S" on each one.

It’s been a thrilling ride working with Courtney and Scott, and I’m going to miss seeing their footage on our editing suite each day.   But their wedding day memories will only be a click of a mouse away, and you’re always welcome to come back and visit.  Best wishes to Courtney and Scott on a happy future together!

And now... the recap.  Happy New Year!

Holy Name Parish Wedding Videographer :: West Roxbury, MA :: Courtney and Scott

There’s something about Courtney and Scott that makes you want to smile.  Maybe it’s the way they were looking at each other so lovingly during their full-mass church ceremony.  Perhaps it’s how they were finishing each other’s sentences when I met with them to discuss their wedding day timeline.  Or maybe it’s just their excitement to be getting married to each other.  I love it when couples look so happy.

We started our day at the picturesque Arnold Arboretum a few hours prior to the ceremony to capture some great footage of the wedding party.  If you're looking for a beautiful, quiet place to take formal pictures (that's relatively close to Boston), this should be on your short list of places to check out.  Shawn was our second shooter for this wedding and he captured some great footage of Scott and his groomsmen on monopod while I captured Courtney and her bridesmaids on Steadicam.

We then packed up our gear and headed to Holy Name Parish (West Roxbury, MA) to prepare for the ceremony.  While I setup microphones and audio recorders throughout the church, Shawn was busy capturing detail shots and guests arriving at the church.  We have a ton of great footage to share with you for Courtney and Scott’s special day, but let’s start with their wedding vows.  I’m not sure if the guests at the wedding could hear the couple exchanging their vows to each other (it’s quite a large church!).  But thanks to the lapel microphone hidden on Scott’s tux, you can hear every word in perfect clarity.

Oceanview Wedding Videographer :: Nahant, MA :: Faith and Chris (Wedding Recap)

And now, time for the final installment of Faith and Chris' wedding.  When we last saw this couple, they were strategically cutting their wedding cake set to the theme song from "Perfect Strangers".  But their wedding was filled with so many exciting moments beyond their cake cutting.  So you want to see more?  OK, here you go.  Cue the drumroll, please.... we have a wedding recap ready to make its debut!

From heartfelt and personal vows to stunning sunset shots of the couple along the private beach at Oceanview to the high-energy dance floor, Faith and Chris' special day had all the elements of a truly memorable wedding.  And we are so honored to have been part of all the festivities.  Special thanks to Julie Surette from Julie Surette Photography for sharing some of her amazing still images with our studio (seriously, check out her work.... she is a stunning photographer!).  Faith and Chris, it's been a wonderful journey working with the two of you and we wish you the best of luck!

And without further delay, Faith and Chris' wedding recap.  Enjoy!

Lake Pearl Wedding Videographer :: Wrentham, MA :: Jenna and Paul

Time for more fun with Jenna and Paul!

By now, you know that Jenna and Paul are a fun-loving and energetic couple.  And when I say fun-loving and energetic, I mean anything goes with these two!  Neeta and I were on our toes the entire night trying to keep up with them and their wedding party.  And speaking of toes, did I mention that there were some amazing dancers at their wedding?  Hopefully you’ve already seen Jenna and her father perform their elegant foxtrot-swing medley for their father-daughter dance.  But Paul surprised us when we saw him burn the floor with his own fancy footwork!  Check out the recap to see just how much fun these two had at their wedding.  Just one question, how does the guy (toward the end of the recap film) do all those insane dance moves?  I wish I could move like him!

Special thanks to Ron Kolias Photography for the stunning still pictures.  There are so many amazing photos from their wedding, but I think this is one of my all-time favorites.  If you’re looking for a great wedding photographer, Ron Kolias MUST be on your short-list!  He’s super easy to work with and he produces some of the most amazing photos I have ever seen.  Thanks to Ron for sharing some of his images with me.  Here’s what the front of Jenna and Paul’s Blu-ray disc case looks like:

It’s been such a blast working with Jenna and Paul, and we’re going to miss seeing their footage on a daily basis.  But not to worry, you haven’t seen the last of this couple!  We’ll be updating our rotating header (for our blog) soon, and you may see some familiar faces at the top of our blog!  Check back in mid-January for the new headers to go live.  Until then, happy holidays everyone.  Looking forward to a great wedding season in 2012!

Barker Tavern Wedding Videographer :: Scituate Harbor, MA :: Katelyn and Damon

And now, the final installment featuring Katelyn and Damon.  The moment you've all been waiting for.... their wedding recap film.

I recently met up with Damon to deliver their trueDEMO disc (essentially a "proof" of the wedding film prior to the final discs being produced and delivered).  Unfortunately, Katelyn had to work late that night so I couldn't say hi to her, but she had given him instructions not to watch the trueDEMO disc without her!  It makes me really happy when couples can't wait to watch their wedding films.  Sort of like an affirmation that all their months of hard work and wedding planning have finally paid off and they can sit back and be "guests" at their own wedding.

We've had a blast working with Katelyn and Damon, and we wish them all the best for the years to come.  Enjoy!

Crane Estate Wedding Videographer :: Ipswich, MA :: Nicole and Keith

A fun- and easy-going couple, an energetic wedding party, supportive family members, and two beautifully picturesque venues. I’ve just described Nicole and Keith’s wedding! For all of you who have been waiting to see their wedding recap, the wait is now over!

There’s something about the smiles on the faces of Nicole and Keith…. You can’t help but smile yourself when you see how happy these newlyweds look. Maybe it was having friends and family members watch over their spiritually lifting orthodox Greek ceremony at St. Helen and Constantine Greek Orthodox Church. Or perhaps it was the beautiful sunset with rays of orange and red streaming over the lush green lawn of the Crane Estate. Whatever it was, you can tell that Nicole and Keith are so happy to be together on this special day. I especially love the closing Steadicam shot of the two of them, as you get glimpses of the Atlantic Ocean and the beautiful lawn of the Crane Estate.

So farewell to Nicole and Keith as we move on to our next project. It’s been a pleasure working with you and who knows, maybe our paths will cross again in the future! From all of us at True Focus Films, we wish you a beautiful future together.

And now, the recap film of Nicole and Keith, set to their first dance song of “Stuck on You” by Lionel Richie! Enjoy!
